The Nantucket Hotel offers a complimentary pick-up/drop-off service for those guests that choose the High-Speed Ferry Services from Hyannis or New Bedford, Mass., and from New York City, and who pre-reserve their transfer service with us in advance of their Island arrival. Our shuttle bus is only at the dock for those guests who pre-reserve their pick-up with us!

The Nantucket Hotel is located in downtown Nantucket, convenient to beaches, shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. A car is unnecessary and discouraged.
If you wish to bring your car to the Island, or rent a car once you’re here, we require your notifying us in advance so we can reserve a parking space for you at the Hotel. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There isn’t any charge for this service, but you need to order it in advance on our Pre-Arrival Concierge. Please contact the Steamship Authority to make auto ferry reservations. Reservations should be made well in advance. During the summer months an automobile costs $400.00 round-trip for the ferry passage – plus passenger fares. It is less expensive November to April.
From Hyannis, MA – Located centrally on Cape Cod, Hyannis is the primary year-round Nantucket departure port for both automobiles and passengers. Two boat lines, the Steamship Authority and Hy-Line Cruises, operate high-speed, passenger ferry service.
From New Bedford, MA – Located near the Rhode Island border, this seasonal high-speed passenger ferry service is convenient for those coming to Nantucket from Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, and points west. Contact Seastreak for more information.
From New York, NY – Direct high-speed passenger ferry service between Manhattan and Nantucket operates seasonally every weekend from East 35th Street. Although at first blush 6 hours may seem like a long trip, when compared to the drive from New York at peak weekend times and the cost of flying and getting to the airports, this fast ferry is a viable option to consider. From Martha’s Vineyard and Harwichport, MA – Additional seasonal high-speed passenger ferry service is provided to Nantucket from Martha’s Vineyard Island via Hy-Line Cruises, and Harwichport (located near Chatham on Cape Cod) via Freedom Cruises.
Rent a Car on Your Own To Hyannis: Budget and Avis offer a convenient and easy to use one-way drop-off in Hyannis. You can pick-up your car wherever you start your journey, drop it off at the Steamship Authority, enjoy your visit on-Island car-free without paying for an unused vehicle and, upon the return, reserve a car for the journey home. Hire a Driver and Car or take a shuttle service: You can pre-arrange ground transfer service with a driver or take a shuttle from the Amtrak Train Station in Providence, Rhode Island or from the T.F. Take the Train to Hyannis: Passenger rail service operates from Boston’s South Station to Hyannis every weekend from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend, connecting with Nantucket’s high-speed ferries. Please go to CapeFlyer.com or call our Reservations Office for details.
Take the Bus to Hyannis: Plymouth and Brockton Bus Lines operate an hourly bus service from downtown Boston’s South Station, and from all the terminals at Logan Airport, to Hyannis. Plymouth & Brockton Bus Lines can be reached at (508) 746-0378 or via their website. The Hyannis Bus Station is a five-minute taxi ride to all Hyannis terminals.
Day Trip from Hyannis to Points on Cape Cod or to Boston (e.g., while on vacation you have a business appointment in Boston): You can rent a Thrifty car at the Hy-Line dock in Hyannis for a round-trip at easy and economical rates. Thrifty cannot be rented one-way for a drop-off at another location.

The Nantucket Hotel offers complimentary shuttle service directly to both Jetties Beach and Surfside Beach during the summer season. Guests can also ride the “Wave,” Nantucket’s popular public bus service. It’s economical, runs frequently, and provides service throughout the Island. Each bus can also accommodate up to two bicycles, for free. The Jetties Beach shuttle and the Madaket shuttle stop right in front of The Nantucket Hotel. We encourage you to bring your own bikes or pre-reserve them on Nantucket. Young’s Bike Shop will deliver bikes to The Nantucket free-of-charge for our guests. Adults can choose from Men’s and Women’s hybrids, Mountain Bikes, Baby Seat Bikes and Tandem models. There are also kids’ bicycles and “burley cub” or “trail a bike” models for young children. Bike paths to Dionis Beach and Madaket (Nantucket’s famous sunset destination) start near The Nantucket Hotel. All NRTA Wave shuttle buses carry two bikes per trip to all Island destinations. You can bike one way and return by bus!
